Tech consumers report a decisive shift in preference for OPPO’s true wireless earbuds over Google’s Pixel Buds Pro 2, driven by persistent fit issues with the latter.
What changed
OPPO’s Enco X4 true wireless earbuds have emerged as a preferred alternative to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, with users citing superior fit and comfort as the primary factor. The decision comes amid ongoing complaints about the Pixel Buds Pro 2’s inconsistent fit, which has led to discomfort and reduced usability for many. The Enco X4, priced at $250, is now being recommended as a more reliable option for those prioritizing comfort without compromising on audio quality or features.
What is confirmed
The Pixel Buds Pro 2’s design has been criticized for its inability to maintain a secure fit for all users, with reports of frequent dislodging during movement or extended use. Users have described the experience as “compromised” despite the earbuds’ otherwise strong performance in sound quality and connectivity. In contrast, the Enco X4’s ergonomic design and adaptive ear tip technology have been praised for their ability to stay in place during physical activity and daily use.
OPPO’s Enco X4 is priced at $250, matching the Pixel Buds Pro 2’s cost but offering a more consistent user experience. While the Pixel Buds Pro 2 has received software updates in 2026, including improvements to noise cancellation and platform-specific features, these enhancements do not address the core issue of fit. The Enco X4’s design adjustments, however, have been highlighted as a key differentiator in user reviews.
The comparison with Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 is noted in the sources, but details about their relative performance—such as battery life or noise cancellation—remain unconfirmed. The focus remains on the Pixel Buds Pro 2’s fit shortcomings and the Enco X4’s resolution of this issue.
What to watch or do next
Consumers considering true wireless earbuds should prioritize fit when evaluating options, particularly if they plan to use the devices for extended periods or during physical activity. The Enco X4’s success suggests that comfort is a critical factor in user satisfaction, even when other specifications are comparable. For those who have struggled with the Pixel Buds Pro 2, the Enco X4 represents a viable upgrade.
